Why You Will Love This Recipe
Super easy! No peeling needed, and the slow cooker does all the work.
Naturally delicious! Simple ingredients let the sweet-tart flavor of plums shine.
Versatile! Use it as a spread, topping, or even glaze for pork or chicken.

Ingredients
- Plums– Use ripe, sweet plums. Red or black plums both work, and no need to peel them. I used Red for these pictures and it gives it a similar look to peach butter.
- Sugar– I noticed that plums tend to be a little tart so I used a little extra sugar than with my other butter recipes. But adjust the amount according to your tastes and the tartness of your plums.
- Cinnamon– Adds warmth and spice. You could also use pumpkin pie spice or cloves for a different variety.
- Lemon juice– Balances the sweetness and helps preserve freshness.

Frequently Asked Questions
Jam is made with fruit and sugar and usually set with pectin, while fruit butters (like this plum butter) are cooked down until thick and smooth, with no added pectin.
Nope! The skins soften during slow cooking and blend right in. If you prefer a lighter texture, you can peel them first.

Helpful Tips
* Stir occasionally during cooking to prevent sticking.
* Taste test before adding more sugar. Plums can vary in sweetness.
* I noticed in testing that if the plums are extra firm, add 1/4 cup of water to help make it smoother and break down more easily.
