Why You Will Love This Recipe
Chocolatey! Tasty snack to satisfy your sweet tooth!
Easy! Just a few simple ingredients needed a couple of minutes to make them.
Kids love them! Perfect for an after-school snack!
Ingredients
- Granola Butter– This is absolutely delicious and tastes similar to ground graham crackers. There are a few flavors to try but I used the vanilla for this recipe. You could also substitute with peanut butter for a similar but less sweet taste.
- Bananas– Just regular ripe bananas make the base of this snack. They taste extra sweet once they are frozen!
- Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips– While you can use any flavor of chocolate chips you prefer, I like the classic semi-sweet to pair with the granola butter.
- Oil– Any neutral oil can work to help thin down the chocolate chips and make it easier to spread. I typically use coconut or canola.
- Coarse Salt– Just a touch helps balance out the sweetness but that’s completely optional.

How To Make Chocolate Granola Butter Banana Bark
- Cut up bananas: Slice up 2 bananas about 2 inches thick and lay them in rows on parchment paper. You will want them touching to help make a “base” for the granola butter and chocolate.
- Add granola butter: Spread the granola butter over the top of the banana slices. No need to make it look pretty. Just spread as best as you can to cover any gaps.
- Freeze: Chill the banana/granola butter in the freezer for at least 1-2 hours until it is firm. This helps the pieces to stay together.
- Add chocolate: Melt the chocolate and oil in the microwave in a small bowl. I usually microwave for 30-second increments until it is almost fully melted, then stir until all the chips are melted. This helps prevent the chocolate from overcooking. Pour over the top of the banana slices and spread it out until it is evenly covered. Sprinkle a little coarse salt if you prefer and enjoy!
Variation Ideas
This banana bark is easy to change and add some variety. A few ideas to switch them up are:
- Chocolate: Try milk, dark, or even white chocolate chips.
- Nut butter: Swap out the granola butter for a nut butter-like almond.
- Toppings: Toast a little coconut or crush up some peanuts for the top.
- Berries: Add some strawberry slices or blueberries for more fruit.
Storage Options
To store: Store covered in an air-tight container in the freezer for up to one week.
Helpful Tips
* Freeze firm: Freeze the granola butter-topped banana slices until completely firm. This helps it to all stay together and the chocolate to firm on top.
* Double the batch: Make a little extra to freeze and enjoy them as easy snacks or dessert. They are highly irresistible!
* Melt the chocolate slowly: Microwave until almost all the chips are melted and then stir until the remaining melt. This is the key to not overcooking chocolate.
