Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan and set aside.
In a large bowl, stir together hash browns, cheddar cheese, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, onion powder, salt, pepper, and 1/2 cup butter. Pour into baking pan.
