Ingredients

  • Baking mix– one of the easiest parts of this recipe is that it is made with a pre-made baking mix. Any brand such as Bisquick can be used. This helps cut down on time and still tastes so good!
  • Cheddar cheese– shredded cheese is so delicious in biscuits!
  • Old Bay Seasoning– this little bit of seasoning gives it that yummy Cajun spice. Just a little goes a long way.
  • Milk
  • Garlic powder
  • Butter
  • Dried parsley

Step-by-Step Instructions

These biscuits are so easy to make. All you have to do is:

  1. Mix the dough- start by mixing together the dough ingredients- baking mix, milk, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, and cheddar cheese. Try not to overmix the batter. The dough will be firm and slightly sticky.
  2. Scoop and bake – grease a muffin scoop or any large tablespoon and drop large spoonfuls of dough onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Then they are ready to bake! Just 10 minutes in the oven and they are golden brown and ready to be buttered.
  3. Brush with butter topping– while the biscuits are baking, whisk together the butter, garlic powder, and parsley. Right when the biscuits come out of the oven, brush each one with the buttery topping. You can pop these back in the oven for a couple of extra minutes to get the tops nice and crispy.
  4. Enjoy– these tasty biscuits taste fantastic right out of the oven. They’re warm, buttery, and melt in your mouth.

Storage Options

Cheddar Bay Biscuits are most flavorful when warm and right out of the oven. But they can also be enjoyed for up to 3 days when stored in an air-tight container at room temperature. One thing to note- the tops will start to soften the longer they sit at room temperature. To crisp up the tops, just air fry or pop them in the oven for a couple of minutes before serving.

To freeze, completely cool the biscuits after baking and then individually wrap them in aluminum foil or freezer paper and store them in an air-tight freezer bag. Freeze for up to 3 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

What to serve with Cheddar Bay Biscuits?

These biscuits are often paired with a seafood dish, such as shrimp, lobster, or crab. But they are also a delicious compliment to soups and chowders and most main dishes, like steak, chicken, and pork.

Why are my biscuits hard?

When the dough is overworked and overmixed, the biscuit can turn hard once baked. Try to mix together the dough ingredients just until combined.
